The Bridgewater Triangle
Recently, Team CAIPRS set off for a day of historical research and investigation into some of our area's most interesting natural sites...which just happened to be located within the Bridgewater Triangle! For those of you who aren't familiar with this location, the Bridgewater Triangle is a 200 square mile area that extends from Abington to Freetown to Rehoboth, Massachusetts and it includes such places as the Freetown State Forest and the Hocomock, or "Devil's", Swamp. There have been documented reports of strange phenomenon occurring within this area for about 250 years but long before these events were recorded, Native Americans living in this area already referred to the swamp as "the place where spirits dwell". UFO's, demon dogs with red eyes, gigantic "Thunder Birds", Bigfoot, cattle mutilation and snakes as large as stove pipes are just some of the strange phenomenon that have been reportedly witnessed within the Triangle. With such a long history of reported events, many by well respected individuals within the community, and such a diverse range of phenomenon, CAIPRS feels that the Bridgewater Triangle is an area worthy of consistent investigation and we have committed ourselves to the task of continuing to research this unique section of Massachusetts.
